About Salt
At SALT, we tell stories that matter.
SALT is an award winning, not-for-profit production company dedicated to the craft of visual storytelling. We love creating stories with sparkle and imagination, lovely little windows through which the world can catch a glimpse of who you are and what you do.
We don’t like to brag, but we’ve won four Regional Emmy® Awards, made book trailers for New York Times bestselling authors, gone viral on Facebook (over 31 million views), and worked with a wonderfully wide range of non-profit, humanitarian, and corporate clients.
We believe in amazing stories and good conversations - contact us and we’ll start one up today!
Meet the Team
Creative Director and Producer Matthew Myer Boulton is an author, teacher, filmmaker, and proud papa of Jonah and Margaret. A graduate of Northwestern University, Harvard Divinity School, and the University of Chicago Divinity School, he has served on the faculty of Harvard Divinity School and seminaries in New England and the Midwest.
On any given day, you can find Gretchen creating art with her kids, sewing something fabulous, baking oatmeal bread, and doing all the behind-the-scenes stuff it takes to make every SALT shoot a huge success. From creating exquisite props to recruiting amazing talent, Gretchen puts her big producer’s heart into everything she does.
Maria wants to live in a world where summer paddle boarding with her daughter lasts forever and carefully curated playlists are always playing in the background. With over 15 years of executive producing experience, she knows how to produce all types of media, including broadcast, digital, feature films, documentaries, and web shorts. Her super power: creative diplomacy!
Hilary loves making the world a little more pretty and a lot more functional through graphic design. She rarely makes the same recipe twice, is addicted to yoga, and can’t stop laying in hammocks. When she’s not sitting at her computer designing and listening to her favorite playlists, she’s with her three kids, doing mom things like driving them to violin lessons and convincing teachers that homework should be optional.
brooke doesn't believe in capital letters, but does believe in grammar, punctuation, and using her abundant creativity every day. when she's not making adorable little things for SALT, she's creating quilts, knitting hats, searching creek beds for nifty rocks, making messes with her two kiddos and husband in the kitchen (and promptly cleaning them up!), and chasing her adorable puppy, frances. born of a creative mom and an engineer dad, she fancies herself a detail-oriented, get-it-right creative human, and lives by the words "make to last."
Mariana was born in Uruguay, but love (and lovely circumstances!) brought her to northern France where she lives and works and makes animation magic day in and day out! A globe-trotter at heart, Mariana has travelled to some extraordinary places, including Vietnam, Thailand, Machu Picchu, and the pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela. She loves bringing characters, design, and music from around the world to life!
Amanda lives in the best little town of Strafford, NH with her naughty (but lovely!) pitbulls and very sweet husband. When she's not mountain biking through the neighborhood or rambling around the woods, she's shooting documentary photography and film. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, The Atlantic, NPR.org, and more :)
Liz is SALT Project’s President, Creative Director, and chief storyteller extraordinaire. A proud graduate of Trent University and the University of Chicago, she loves experimenting with film and animation to change minds, hearts, and maybe even the world! A proud mom and vegetarian for over 10 years, Liz wants to live in a world where kindness is queen, emails are short, and pots of tea never get cold.
