Floriography: A Lenten “Flower Power” Calendar (Congregational Use: 100 Members or Less)
Lent is a pilgrimage from death into new life, suffering into resurrection, fallow ground into flowers - and this printable, interactive calendar can help you and your family anticipate and celebrate the blooms along the way.
Each week has its own set of beautifully illustrated cards, all organized around a wonderful blend of art, science, and delight known as “floriography,” the secret language of flowers.
Amazing fun facts, engaging discussion starters, and creative, accessible activities pollinate the six weekdays, and each Sunday’s card invites you into a simple service, including words from Scripture, a bite-sized reflection, and a prayer. Forty-four cards in all (including for Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday)!
Best of all, the calendar’s flexible design allows for use in whatever makes most sense for you and your family: draw a card a day, pick your favorites, or discuss all seven cards at a weekly meal. Whatever you decide, “Floriography” is sure to infuse this Lenten season with wonder, reflection, and conversation as we approach the blooming beauty of Easter morning.
Files: This listing is for a download (not a physical product) of a zipped folder of high resolution PDF files for you to reproduce on 8.5x11 inch white card stock; a digital reader version; and individual jpegs of each card for sharing on social media.
Printing and Cutting: Print PDFs at 100%, in horizontal format, on 8.5x11 inch white card stock for vibrant results. Then simply cut along the thin gray lines with scissors, an exacto-knife and ruler, or (our favorite!) pinking shears.
Finally, this resource is for congregational use only, which means it may not be reproduced commercially, duplicated beyond the congregation, or resold :)
Happy counting down the days!
