Practicing Lent: A Lenten Devotional Resource for Progressive Churches
Advent has come and gone and the days are finally lengthening again. As we wait in darkness, we long for light and the hope of what this light brings to our lives and to the world.
Over here at SALT, we heard your appreciation for the Printable Advent Calendar and how that helped put your waiting into active practice! And, we have also heard the call for a Lenten resource that is equally beautiful and inspiring.
We are excited to share with you our latest creation, Practicing Lent. This modern and inspiring Printable Lenten Booklet will be the perfect companion to your (and your congregation’s) Lenten journey. It's thoughtfully written, beautifully designed, and will challenge you to see the hope and light all around you as you stay present and awake to the injustices of the world.
What is included are six weekly Lenten practices, each one designed to deepen your journey through these 40 days of lengthening light. Practice them alone, or with a partner, friends, or family, sharing experiences and insights as you travel.
As is our custom, Practicing Lent is offered on our usual sliding scale, to allow all to enjoy this resource. The suggested price is $5 for individuals; $15 for congregations with up to 100 members; $25 for congregations with 100-500 members; and $35 for congregations with 500 members or more.
Once you purchase Practicing Lent, you may reproduce it for your whole congregation, or send it out digitally to let your congregation print it up themselves. Easy to follow printing instructions are also included in the download!
Along the way, you are invited to record your surprising (or not so surprising!) encounters with God, and please share with us how this resource has helped draw you closer to the One who makes all things new.
Love and Lenten Light,
The SALT Team
p.s. If you haven’t seen it yet, we are super excited about our latest Lenten Customizable Short Film! It’s earthy and free-range, and we’re confident it will bring even more folks into your congregation during the holy season of Lent and on Easter morning.
