Back-to-School for Syrian Families in the Middle East
It's that time of year again, when kids all over the country go back to school - and parents, grandparents, and other care-providers breathe a collective sigh of relief!
Halfway around the world, Syrian families are also preparing to send their children back to school. After fleeing the violence that has engulfed their homeland, they arrive in refugee camps in neighbor, and their children have missed months - sometimes even years - of school.
Week of Compassion, the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada, is working hard to help these children get back to school so they can learn, heal, and regain some semblance of peaceful routine and normalcy.
SALT is thrilled to partner with Week of Compassion to create this short "back-to-school" film to help raise money so these refugee families can get school supplies, graphing calculators, hot meals, weather-appropriate clothing, tutoring, trauma-sensitive counseling, and more - and so their teachers can receive a consistent, livable wage. If you have a little extra money to your name, please donate today and support these children so that their first week back to school will be a Week of Compassion.
Thanks for all you do!

p.s. Check out the photo below! We're pretty sure this is our favorite image ever - such power, grit, and determination on that young woman's face... If you can, send her some support! Because education should never be a casualty of war.
